Big two-bedroom apartment with loads of character in a 100-year old walk-up in one of Toronto's best neighbourhoods. It is a warm, welcoming space with a quirky layout that I've called home for more than twelve years.
The main bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and is separated from the living room by a barn door and from the kitchen by a French door and windows. The second bedroom serves as the spare, with a sofa that pulls out into a king-size bed. The living room has an incredibly cozy sofa where another person could very comfortably sleep.
REMOTE WORK:
The spare bedroom also serves as my office. It was purposely decorated to serve as a professional backdrop for video calls, with an adjustable standing desk, two whiteboards, and fast Wi-Fi (tested at 700Mbps download and 50Mbps upload). The main bedroom has a large wooden table and office chair, which serve as a second desk and work space.
ENTERTAINMENT:
The 50" smart tv mounted in the living room has active Netflix and Prime Video streaming subscriptions. There is also a trunk full of board games and puzzles. I'm a big reader, so there are quite a few books around, mostly non-fiction psychology, business, and personal development topics.
EXERCISE:
I have worked in fitness for almost fifteen years now, and been at home for the last three or four years. As such, I've been able to equip the apartment with a spin bike, exercise bands, dumbbells (up to 58lb), a pull up bar, yoga mats, foam rollers, skipping rope and a heavy wooden bench.
COOKING: The kitchen is equipped with oven, refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, toaster, slow cooker, steamer, hand mixer, blender, immersion blender, and Keurig coffee maker. My pantry is modestly stocked, but you are welcome to use any ingredients you can find.
HEATING/COOLING: The apartment is heated by hot water through cast iron radiators. However, given that the apartment is on the inside of the building, they rarely need to be set above minimum. In the summer, two window-installed air conditioning units keep the space quite cool, and I have several fans.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD: Yonge and Eglinton is one of Toronto's most popular and livable neighbourhoods. Walk less than 5-10 minutes and you will find countless sit-down and takeaway restaurants, dozens of coffee and bubble tea shops, three grocery stores, several gourmet food shops, two LCBOs (aka liquor stores - where will find wine, beer, spirits and more), a few shops for wine, dozens of gyms and fitness studios, and a cinema.
Walk a little further to Mount Pleasant (~10 min) or Bayview (~20 min) and you will find areas with even more shopping and food offerings.
Even more convenient, is that the Eglinton subway station is a 5-minute walk away. Simply hop on the the Yonge subway to go directly into downtown Toronto and everything it has to offer. Access to TTC subways, buses, and streetcars can be done with contactless payment, or you can purchase tickets or a reloadable Presto card from machines in the station. The Yonge subway line also goes to Union Station, with access to regional GO Transit, Via Rail trains covering all of Canada, and the UP Express directly to Toronto Pearson Int'l Airport.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The apartment is on the 3rd floor (ground+2) and there is no lift, so it may not be suitable for someone with mobility issues. And while there are no pets living here now, two cats lived here from 2020 to mid-2024. Everything has been thoroughly cleaned, but it may still not be suitable for someone with cat allergies. Coin laundry is in the building on the same floor as the apartment.
