Hi everyone! I’m looking to swap my flat in Berlin for a cat-friendly flat in Barcelona (Barcelona only, sorry). Ideally I would like to swap with either a single person or a couple and for long-term (minimum 6 months - maximum 12 months). Cats also more than welcome here! My flat is a beautiful, fully furnished 75m² maisonette in the heart of the Friedrichshain district, only 6 minutes walk from Ostkreuz station. It has a bright kitchen and living room (with two separate balconies) on the first floor, as well as a small bathroom with a shower. The bedroom and another bigger bathroom with bathtub are located on the ground floor (it’s a very quiet side street though and not very noisy at all). The flat is fully equipped with a brand new oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, TV (with Amazon firestick), fire alarms etc. - only downside is that it has no dishwasher. In addition to that I have a bike that you’re welcome to use - Berlin is very flat and ideal for cycling! Some information about myself: I am 34 years old, very tidy and reliable. I have two easygoing cats who are coming with me to Barcelona, so it’s necessary that the flat I swap with allows cats. They’re both 11 years old, very chill and well behaved (e.g. haven’t scratched any of my furniture since they were kittens). It would actually be amazing to swap with someone who also has a cat/cats, since one of my balconies already has a cat net attached and all the other cat equipment could also be used (e.g. the two scratch trees). About Friedrichshain: Friedrichshain is a lively district in the former Eastern part of Berlin. It’s a central area full of small independent shops, restaurants, brunch places, bars and clubs. The flat is in close proximity to a nice beer garden and within walking distance from Boxhagener Platz with its weekly food market (Saturdays) and flea market (Sundays). One of the most famous restaurant streets of Berlin, Simon-Dach-Straße, is just a 15 minute walk away - same as RAW Gelände, which also hosts weekly flea markets almost all year round, as well as a beautiful historical Christmas market in November and December. The nearest station is Ostkreuz, which also happens to be one of the main connection points in Berlin, and will easily get you pretty much anywhere (it also has a direct fast train to the airport which only takes 20 minutes!). From Ostkreuz you can take regional trains that will take you into the surrounding areas (e.g. the countryside in Brandenburg, which is great for long walks or hikes) as well as the S-Bahn that takes you into the city centre. All other public transport options (bus, tram, U-Bahn) are also within walking distance of the flat. Since the flat is not far from the former border to West Berlin, some of the main sights are also relatively close to the flat - such as the famous East Side Gallery and Oberbaumbrücke. There are also some beautiful parks in the area which are ideal for running, relaxing or picnics with friends. Some of the smaller parks can be found all over Friedrichshain and are within walking distance, while larger ones like Treptower Park and Volkspark Friedrichshain are easily reachable by public transport or bike. I’ve been living in this flat for over 7 years now and I love it dearly - it’s honestly a little gem in the middle of one of the coolest areas of Berlin. So I am looking for someone who will take good care of it, while I’m 100% going to take good care of your flat too. (PS: Smoking inside the flat is not permitted, but not a problem on the balconies of course)
