The Heights

The Heights is set in Dodanwala, a quiet hillside neighbourhood just outside central Kandy. The setting gives you the best of both sides of the city: you are surrounded by greenery, elevated above much of the traffic and noise, with cooler air and views across the surrounding hills, while still being only a short drive from the centre of Kandy. Kandy itself is one of Sri Lanka’s most important cultural cities, with the Temple of the Sacred Tooth, Kandy Lake, the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and other everyday amenities all within easy reach. The house feels genuinely removed from the bustle once you are home. The final approach is through the hillside residential area, and the elevated position creates a much more private and peaceful atmosphere than staying in the centre of town. For guests wanting to explore further, Kandy also works very well as a base for Sri Lanka’s central highlands and tea country, with the wider hill-country region accessible for day trips or onward travel. We particularly like the fact that you can spend the day exploring Kandy and then return within minutes to somewhere that feels almost completely separate from the city.
