Casa Monteluce

A charming house in the medieval village of Santa Fiora, Tuscany (minimum exchange of 4 days). In the less known Tuscany, on the Amiata Mountain, a very suggestive house in the medieval center of Santa Fiora. An independent house, facing the hills, 3 floors (many stairs!), 3 double rooms, a large kitchen, cozy living with an ancient fireplace. The house can host 6 people. It has 3 bedrooms: 1 large double room, 1 double with 2 single beds and a smaller one with a double sofa-bed. 2 baths, one per floor (1st and 2nd, cause on the ground floor there is only a storeroom). A large kitchen well equipped, with a long table, a microwave oven but a small fridge, so you have to buy "fresco" food every day...or to go to some good restaurant! There are many here. A very comfortable living, with an antique fireplace, sofa, and armchairs. There is also a dining corner, with table, seats and a large bench. Free wi-fi access and flat TV. You can use the entire house, respecting the peculiarity of our "nest", lived and loved. We'll be happy to introduce you this place and its history. From here you can easily reach several points of artistic, cultural and natural interest of the region: sea in 1 hour( Castiglione Della Pescaia and Argentario), thermal baths in 20' (Bagno Vignoni, Saturnia), woods in 5', ski run in 15', two cities (Siena and Grosseto) in 1h. It's better to use a car, so you can move easier and visit many interesting sites. By car: superhighway A1 to Firenze + freeway to Siena, then Grosseto (exit Paganico) and follow indications to Monte Amiata, then Arcidosso and Santa Fiora. * **Castello:** This is where you'll find the main square, with the old town hall, bars, and shops. * **Borgo:** The medieval heart of the town, and where my house is located. * **Montecatino:** This area has old mills and the Peschiera, a large fish pond where the springs of the Fiora river collect before being channeled into an underground aqueduct, which you can also visit. Santa Fiora was a fiefdom of the Aldobrandeschi and Cesarini Sforza families and was even mentioned by Dante in his *Purgatorio*. It has many churches to visit, but the most notable is the Pieve, which houses an important collection of Della Robbia ceramics. This is a comfortable house, even if it's old and has many stairs! Mount Amiata is beautiful in every season: you can go into the woods, visit nearby towns (Montalcino and Saturnia), go skiing in the winter, and most of all, eat excellent Tuscan meat and the famous wine. Nature, art, history—what more could you want? The house overlooks the hills, and in a few minutes, you can reach the woods for a nice walk or the peak of Mount Amiata in 15 minutes by car. Even Siena and Grosseto are only an hour away, and Saturnia is just 30 minutes away.
