Verify your home address, the old-fashioned way.
We post a letter with a unique 6-digit code to the address you submit. Enter the code on Swaphouse and your Address Verified badge appears on your home listing. It shows members that someone entered the code mailed to that address, one more reason for them to say yes.
- Optional
- Free for now
- Your full address stays private by default
- Letter sent to your address
- Code entered on Swaphouse
- Badge added to your listing
A real-world signal for an online swap.
Saying yes to a swap means trusting someone with your home, and them trusting you with theirs. Members already look at your listing, read reviews and have a video call. Someone entering the code from a letter we mailed there adds one more signal about the address behind your listing, something an online form can’t show.
A badge right on your home listing
Members see the Address Verified pill on your listing and when you plan a swap together. Tapping it opens a short explainer, so they know exactly what it means, and what it doesn’t.

Clear about what it means.
The Address Verified badge shows that someone entered the code mailed to the address on the listing. Here’s what that tells you, and what it doesn’t.
What it tells you
- They could receive post there: Someone entered the code mailed to the submitted address when they verified.
- The address can be shared with you: When you plan a swap, they can choose to share the verified address with you.
This reflects the moment they verified. It doesn’t confirm they still have access to the address later.
What it doesn’t tell you
- Who owns or lives in the home: It doesn’t confirm ownership, tenancy or the right to offer the home.
- Whether the listing is accurate: Photos, descriptions and amenities aren’t checked.
- Who they are or how they’ll behave: It isn’t an identity or background check.
- Whether the home is safe or suitable: The condition of the home isn’t part of the check.

What happens with your address.
Who can see it
Other members can’t see it. Swaphouse stores your address to send your letter and so you can share it later. When you plan a swap, you can choose to share it with your swap partner.
Who sends the letter
A global printing and mailing partner prints and posts your letter. They only use your address to send it, under a data processing agreement.
What’s deleted
Remove your verification or delete your account, and we delete your verified address straight away, unless we need to keep it to meet a legal obligation or prevent fraud or abuse.
You stay in control
You can remove Address Verification from your home listing at any time. The badge disappears immediately.
Read more in our Privacy Policy.
A verified address is a start, not a guarantee.
The badge tells you someone entered the code mailed to that address. The best swaps still start with getting to know each other, and you always decide who you swap with.
Have a video call, ideally with a home tour
Meet the people who’ll actually stay, and see the home live.
Agree on the details
Dates, house rules, a clear key handover plan and what happens if plans change.
Check your cover
Make sure your home insurance covers the swap, and consider damage protection with Truvi.
Pause if something feels off

The small print, in plain words.
What address verification does and doesn’t cover, in short. Our Terms & Conditions and the law take priority over this page.
-
Optional, and free for now.
Verifying your address is your choice, and a home without the badge isn’t less trustworthy. We cover the cost of each letter for now. If we charge for it later, you’ll see the price before you start.
-
A snapshot in time.
The badge shows that someone entered the code mailed to the address when they verified. It doesn’t confirm that the member still lives there, has access to it or controls it later.
-
Not a guarantee or endorsement.
The badge isn’t a recommendation by Swaphouse, insurance or a promise that a swap will go well.
-
You decide, and you stay responsible.
You choose who you swap with, and you remain responsible for your own checks, including video calls, insurance and key handover arrangements.
-
Sharing your address is up to you.
When you share your address in a planned swap, make sure it’s correct and right for that swap. We provide the way to share it, but don’t check it beyond the letter.
-
Verification can be removed.
You can remove yours at any time. We may also remove a badge in cases of suspected abuse, fraud or misuse.
Questions, answered.
Is address verification optional and free?
Yes. It’s optional and free for now, and you can keep using Swaphouse without it. We cover the cost of printing and posting your letter while we roll it out. We may charge for it later. If we do, we’ll show the price before you decide to start.
Why can’t I see the option yet?
We’re making it available gradually. When it’s ready for you, you’ll see “Verify your home address” in Home Listing → Location. Don’t see it yet? Reach out to Swaphouse Support so we can enable it for you.
How long does the letter take to arrive?
Most letters arrive within 5–10 business days. Depending on your country and the local postal service, it can take longer, especially during busy periods.
What if my letter doesn’t arrive, or my code doesn’t work?
Post sometimes goes missing. If your letter hasn’t arrived after about two weeks, or the code doesn’t work, contact Swaphouse Support. We’ll double-check your address details and, where needed, send a new letter.
Who prints and posts the letter?
We work with a specialist provider that prints and sends verification letters worldwide. It only uses your name and address to send your letter, and acts on our instructions as a data processor. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
Can I share a utility bill instead?
We don’t accept documents like utility bills or bank statements. With today’s tools they’re easy to edit or even create from scratch, and checking them would mean sharing more personal details than we need. The badge only appears when someone enters the code we mailed to that address, and your documents stay with you.
Does my Address Verified badge expire?
Not at the moment. If we introduce an expiry period, we’ll let you know in advance, before it applies to your badge.
The badge shows that someone entered the code mailed to the address when you verified it. We may remove it in cases of suspected abuse, fraud or misuse.
What if I move to a new home?
It’s not possible to change the address on an existing listing, because its likes and matches belong to that home and don’t carry over. Add a new listing for your new home and verify that address. Once it’s ready, you can remove the old listing. Swaphouse Support is happy to help.
Does the badge cover everyone who manages or stays in the home?
The Address Verified badge belongs to the home, not to a person. On a co-managed home, it shows alongside both hosts. It doesn’t confirm who anyone is or who will stay. For that, look for an Identity Verified badge, which each member earns for themselves.
How is this different from identity verification?
Address verification is about your home: it shows someone entered the code mailed to the address you listed. Identity verification is about you: Didit checks your ID and a selfie. They’re separate, optional and you can have both.
Can I remove my address verification?
Yes. You can remove it at any time in Home Listing → Location. Your Address Verified badge disappears and your verified address data is deleted straight away, unless we need to keep it to meet a legal obligation or prevent fraud or abuse. You can verify again later if you like.
What should I do if a verified listing seems off?
Report it to Swaphouse Support with a link to the listing and explain your concern. We may contact the member, remove their badge or suspend their account if needed. You always decide whether to go ahead with a swap. An Address Verified badge is never a reason to ignore a concern.
Ready for your verification letter?
Look for “Verify your home address” in Home Listing → Location. It’s optional, free for now, and one more way to help members feel confident saying yes.
We’re making it available gradually, so it may not show for everyone yet.
