Swap Stories with M.K.: Is My Home Nice Enough to Swap?

In our latest Swap Story, we spoke with M.K., an experienced home swapper who has exchanged homes across Europe and Canada.

This time, we asked her about one of the most common concerns we hear from people considering their first home swap:

“Is my home nice enough to swap?”

M.K.: “I would say to anyone who doesn’t think their home is nice enough to share with other people: I felt exactly the same way.

What was really cool about putting our home on the platform was that it motivated me to buy a few things I hadn’t allowed myself to enjoy before.

There were these particular pillows at a lifestyle shop I love that I’d been eyeing for a long time. But I kept thinking, “No, I’m not going to buy those. I don’t need them.”

Then I thought, “You know what? I’m going to make my house the nice home I know it can be — and that I deserve.”

It almost gave me that final push to buy the scented candle and the outdoor couch I’d always wanted. And now, I get to enjoy that couch in the sun all the time.”

M.K.’s story is a lovely reminder that your home doesn’t need to look like a luxury rental or a perfectly styled magazine spread to be worth sharing.
