How Address Verification Works

One of the biggest hesitations people have about home swapping is: how do I know this home address is actually real?

And you know what? Fair question. It's something we've spent a lot of time thinking about ourselves.

That's why we launched Address Verification, and here's how it works.

A Swaphouse user submits their home address on the platform, and we send a physical letter by post containing a unique verification code. Once they receive the letter and enter the code, they earn an Address Verified badge on their home listing.

What does that badge mean? It confirms that the person can receive mail at the address they listed. It's another real signal that the home address is legitimate.

Now, to be clear, it doesn't prove ownership, residency, or anything legal like that. But when combined with a video call, a completed profile, and a good conversation back and forth, it can help both sides feel more comfortable saying yes to a home swap.

If you've been on the fence about trying home swapping, know that these are exactly the kinds of features we continue to build to make that first swap feel a little less like a leap of faith.
