Address Verification on Swaphouse (Beta)

An optional, free beta feature to help build trust between swappers and improve the chances of successful swaps. Verify your home address by mail and earn an Address Verified badge on your home listing.

Swaphouse Address Verification beta
Trust is what makes a home swap actually work. Address Verification adds one more signal on top of LinkedIn-verified sign-up, your profile, reviews and video calls, so members can feel a bit more confident saying yes to swapping with you. It's optional, free during the beta, and your address stays private by default.

What is Address Verification?

Address Verification is an optional feature where you submit your home address and confirm that you can receive mail there. We post a physical letter with a unique 6-digit code; once you enter the code on Swaphouse, an Address Verified badge appears on your home listing.

In our Terms & Conditions, we put it like this: Address Verification only confirms that, at the time of verification, you were able to receive mail at the submitted address. Simple as that.

It's not a background check, not an ID check, not an ownership check. Just one extra trust signal, sent the old-school way ๐Ÿ“ฌ.

What it is, and what it isn't

We want to be upfront about what the Address Verified badge means, so it stays a useful signal, not a misleading one.
For the full wording, see section 3 of our Terms & Conditions.

What it does

  • โœ… You can receive mail at the submitted address
  • โœ… The Address Verified badge appears on your listing
  • โœ… Your full address stays private by default

What it doesn't do

  • โŒ Confirm ownership or legal residency
  • โŒ Guarantee the accuracy of photos or descriptions
  • โŒ Replace personal due diligence

โš ๏ธ Important disclaimer

Address Verification is a trust signal, not a guarantee. The presence of an Address Verified badge or the display of a verified address is not an endorsement, certification or recommendation by Swaphouse, and you should never rely solely on it when deciding to enter into a home swap. Read more

The feature is currently in beta. Swaphouse may, at its discretion, update, expand, restrict or introduce fees for Address Verification in the future. Any changes or applicable fees will be clearly communicated before you choose to participate. Swaphouse may also revoke or remove a verification at any time, including in cases of suspected abuse, fraud or misuse.

You remain responsible for your own due diligence, including video calls, identity checks, insurance arrangements and key handover agreements. For the full details, please review our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.

How does it work?

From your home listing to a verified badge in four steps.

๐Ÿ“

STEP 1

Submit your address

Open your Home Listing โ†’ Location and enter your full home address.

๐Ÿ“ฎ

STEP 2

Letter underway

We post a letter with a unique 6-digit code, usually arriving in 5โ€“10 business days.

๐Ÿ”ข

STEP 3

Enter your code

Head back to Home Listing โ†’ Location and enter the 6-digit code from the envelope.

โœ…

STEP 4

You're verified!

Your Address Verified badge goes live on your home listing. Valid for 1 year.

Private by default

Your full address is never shown publicly on your listing or profile.

Shared only when you plan a swap

When you're planning a swap, you can optionally choose to share your full verified address with your swap partner directly.

Your address stays yours

Your full address (street, house number, postal code) is never shared by Swaphouse without your permission. We only use it to confirm you can receive mail at that address so the Address Verified badge can be displayed on your home listing.

When you're planning a swap with another swapper, you can choose to share your full address with them inside the swap details. It's completely optional and under your control.

Verifications are valid for one year and can be renewed with a new letter. You can remove your verification any time from your Home Listing, and Swaphouse can revoke a verification in cases of suspected abuse, fraud or misuse.

What other swappers see

When someone visits your home listing or starts planning a swap with you, they'll see an Address Verified pill on your profile. Tapping it opens a short explainer so they know exactly what the badge means, and what it doesn't.

We also remind every member that the badge isn't a substitute for personal due diligence. It works best together with a real conversation, a video call (bonus points for a live home tour), clear key handover plans, and appropriate insurance or protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, it's completely optional. You can keep using Swaphouse and matching with other home swappers without verifying your address. Verified members do tend to look extra trustworthy at a glance, so it's a nice signal to add, but never required.
Most letters arrive within 5โ€“10 business days. International mail can take longer depending on your location and the local postal service, especially during peak seasons.
Address Verification is currently a free beta feature. Swaphouse covers the printing and shipping of your verification letter while the feature is in beta. We may, at our discretion, introduce fees in the future. If we do, any applicable fees will be clearly communicated before you choose to participate.
Sometimes mail just goes missing. If your letter hasn't arrived after about two weeks, or if the code doesn't seem to work, please contact Swaphouse Support. We'll double-check your address details and, where needed, send a new letter.
Address Verification is valid for 1 year from the date you verify. When it expires, you'll see a renewal prompt on your Home Listing and we'll send a fresh letter so you can re-verify and keep your badge for another year.
Right now you can only list one home per Swaphouse account, and it's not possible to simply swap one address for another on an existing listing, and likes and matches don't transfer to a new home. If you've moved, the cleanest path is to go to Settings, delete your account, and create a new Swaphouse account for your new home. We're happy to help you through it. Just reach out to Swaphouse Support.
Yes. Your exact address is never shown publicly on your profile or home listing. Others only see the city and neighborhood, if you've provided one. Your full verified address is stored securely and is only shared when you choose to share it with a swap partner inside a planned swap. All personal data is processed in line with our Privacy Policy.
Of course. You can remove your Address Verification at any time from your Home Listing. This permanently removes the Address Verified badge. You can always start the verification process again later if you'd like to re-verify your home address.
The first wave of users already has access via Home Listing โ†’ Location. If you'd like to be added to the beta, just reach out to Swaphouse Support and we'll unlock it for your account. We'll cover the printing and shipping costs during the beta. ๐Ÿ’Œ
