We had an exceptional home swap with Lisa. Lisa herself was responsive and friendly from the get-go (we had an initial Zoom call to meet and greet, and from there did most communicating over Whatsapp). Her home blew us away with its traditional charm, spaciousness, tidyness, and how well-stocked it was with all the needed creature comforts (compared to Airbnbs we have stayed in–it included details such as a hammock in the garden, outdoor chair pillows, a teapot, yoga mats and bathrobes–just to name a few things). Our favorite part of the house was the unique architecture of the home, including a courtyard connecting all the rooms, as well as the expansive backyard which included a deep swimming pool, multiple dining tables, a couch and hammock under an awning, and a view of the sea from the pool area with plenty of space for morning yoga. The location of the home was ideal: situated in a charming Medieval village surrounded by farmland and hills leading to the sea. There were hiking paths within minutes of walking from the house, and we always found a parking space in the village, if not right in front of the house. The house is located on Gozo, the 2nd largest island of Malta, so with Lisa’s recommendation we used the services of the local car rental Mayjo, which offer packages including a rental car and taxi drop off + ferry. It takes +/- 1.5h to the airport, and we found the service worth it for the peace of mind and comfort. While we didn’t end up working from Lisa’s home (we both took holidays), we found the WiFi to be good, and even did perfect video calls in the kitchen, and there were boosters in all the rooms for good coverage throughout the house. We felt very taken care of in Lisa’s home, and grateful to be staying in a space that is so clearly loved by its owners. Thank you for the unforgettable experience and for sharing this special spot with us!
