Ever wanted to stay in an antique typewriter shop?
Our unique two-floor home has a typewriter workshop on the ground floor, which we use on a day to day basis to restore and give new life these beautiful machines. So if you ever wanted to be surrounded by over 150 typewriters, this is the place to be! This is mainly used as our working area, so set up with a large workshop table and a separate desk fully set up for remote work. And don't worry - it's only open by appointment, and all machines are thoroughly cleaned :)
On this floor, we also have a fully equipped kitchen and a little garden (~30m2), with a small seating area under an old pear tree.
Upstairs is our living room, which on one side has a cosy TV corner (incl. Netflix, Prime, etc.) with large, comfortable couch. On the other side is our dining table, that also functions as our board game table (board game collection included). Lastly, we have our bedroom with a double bed and balcony.
Bonus:
* Espresso machine (and recommendation for really nice coffee roasters) available
* Bread baking machine available for making fresh bread every day (we can leave instructions on how to use it!)
* Use our bikes to travel like a local (2 bikes available)
The neighbourhood
Our home is located in "Amsterdam Oost", a neighbourhood that tourists rarely find but locals adore. Within 5 minutes, you can be at a Michelin star restaurant or eat the best falafel (officially!) in Amsterdam, and anything in between. Whether you're yearning for Yemenese food, or a cute pastry shop with traditional French croissants, you can all find it within a few minutes walk from our home.
And that's just the food, there's also the public library nearby, two different swimming pools (heated outdoor and indoor), student run cinema screening classics (with theme nights) and new releases, coffee roasters, local farmer's market, shopping center, local craft beer brewery. In the other direction, we have what in our humble opinion is the nicest park in Amsterdam, where in summer, you can SUP, swim or kayak on the lake.
The whole area is extremely walkable, but it's also only a stone throw away from various public transport routes, so you can get to all the things the heart of the city has to offer. For instance, there is a tram line that takes you directly to the museum district that stops 50m from our door, and another nearby tram stop that takes you to the historic Artis zoo within 8 minutes - or you can borrow our bikes and do travel like a local!
