Immerse yourself in the spirit of artistry with this unparalleled 1930 era adobe home, a testament to the creative brilliance of Wolfgang Pogzeba, the famed German artist involved with the restoration of the iconic San Francisco de Asis church in Ranchos de Taos.
Originally built in early 1930, the property was crafted and expanded in 1960 and is an homage to the San Francisco de Asis church by Pogzeba and includes such architectural elements as clasping, angled, and setback buttresses.
The spacious structure abounds with many one-of-a-kind, artisan-crafted features, including:
*hand-built doors and windows
*two grand circular staircases
*numerous bancos and nichos
*11 fireplaces!
The centerpiece of the house is an oversized living room whose handcrafted windows frame a spectacular view of Taos Mountain. This lavish, sophisticated space with its generously sized kiva fireplace is the perfect setting to socialize with family and friends.
The house offers numerous ways to enjoy a meal, depending on the mood. Relax in an open plan living room/dining room with a large group of friends; entertain by the fire in a formal dining room; savor meals with family by the fire in the cozy and artful kitchen nook; or dine al fresco in the lush courtyard gardens. The kitchen itself is a chefs delight, complete with an herb/vegetable garden, a coffee bar, a sizable walk-in pantry, and a spacious butlers pantry that includes an additional sink, refrigerator, and prep area.
The house boasts two circular staircases, one of which leads to the second-floor primary suite. This breathtaking sanctuary features a 500-gallon hot tub nestled in its own rotunda beneath a 12-foot sky light. Included in the suite is a cozy sitting area with a large fireplace and a roomy dressing room that boasts a kitchenette complete with southwestern tile and vigas. This luxurious suite is complemented by two private decks, one featuring an outdoor kiva fireplace, a 30-square foot steam shower, a separate water closet, and a second bathroom.
The property features a second-floor window-lined office ideal for working from home and a spacious ground floor artists studio.
Nestled on a 1-acre walled and gated property, surrounded by mature trees and established landscaping, this home offers several outdoor spaces to relax and rejuvenate.
There are currently several rescue hens and geese living on the property in addition to a Rover, a Great Pyrenees flock dog. Swappers would need to keep the property gates closed and feed the critters.
Long term swaps only. Ideally, we are looking for a year at low altitude and are looking at a minimum 2 bedroom 2 bathroom freestanding house. We are extremely quiet. One of us is a remote worker and the other retired. We have no children and our house has too many unchild-proofed balconies, decks, staircases to accommodate anyone under the age of 18.
We are looking for someplace quiet. Rural would be nice but the right urban setting would work.
This is all BRAND new to us so we are just putting feelers out. We aren't interested in any swaps under 6 months.
Thanks for looking!
