My home is a traditional "canut" apartment — a former silk-workers’ flat typical of the Croix-Rousse district. Located on the ground floor, it retains the wonderful architectural features that make these historic properties so distinctive: impressively high ceilings and very large windows that flood the space with natural light. The generous ceiling height has allowed for the creation of several mezzanine levels, making the flat feel both spacious and characterful; one of these serves as my office workspace. Please note that access to the beds in both bedrooms is via a ladder (as shown in the photos), as they are situated on mezzanine levels. Guests therefore need to be comfortable climbing up and down. The Croix-Rousse is one of Lyon’s most vibrant and appealing neighbourhoods, known for its village atmosphere, independent shops and excellent food. There is a lively street market six days a week, offering superb local produce, and the area is very much at the heart of Lyon’s creative community, with galleries, studios and cultural events close by. The city centre is just a 10–15 minute walk downhill, and the metro station is less than five minutes away on foot, making it easy to explore the rest of Lyon.
