What you will love about this home Welcome to our cozy, spacious (137m2) and bright house. Ideal for relaxing and fully enjoying the versatile surroundings. We love light earth tones and you can see and feel them in our house. A mix between the Scandinavian and beach styles. Ground floor The living room is light and spacious, with a lovely open kitchen, sliding doors to the garden and a playground at the front of the house. The house is fully equipped: Smart TV, Wifi, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Our two bicycles can be used to discover the immediate surroundings. You can also rent extra bicycles at the bicycle shop around the corner. We have the sun on the front garden with a nice playground immediately adjacent. When the sun is shining, you can sit in the sun with a coffee. Inside there is a large corner sofa for the whole family and the dining table is large enough for 6-8 people. High chairs are available, but these can also be temporarily stored so that there is room for adults. There are plenty of toys available for children. But also for seen with older children or for couples, the house is a great base to discover the unique Frisian environment and make trips to a city like Amsterdam. In the kitchen you will find a dishwasher, Quooker for instant hot water, an induction hob, oven-microwave combination, Nespresso machine, freezer and two refrigerators. The dining table is adjacent to the backyard. In warm weather, you can open the sliding doors and walk straight into the garden. You can sit there until the evening on the lounge sofa or at the garden table. First floor On the first floor you will find 3 bedrooms: 1. Bedroom with large double bed (180x200cm) and a large wardrobe 2. Bedroom with a large bunk bed (90x200cm) 3. Bedroom with two toddler beds. A mattress can also be placed on the floor here. Extra beds can be arranged. The bathroom with rain shower and toilet can also be found on the first floor. Underfloor heating is a nice side effect here when it is a bit cooler. Second floor On the second floor you will find a fourth bedroom/study. Extra mattresses can be arranged to be placed on the floor here. In addition, you will find the washing machine and dryer on this floor. What you will love about this neighborhood Our house is located in the picturesque town of IJlst. With characteristic canals, an old sawmill and wide views over the meadows, a beautiful place to stay and relax. The area is rich in water, forest and many small villages with historical elements, such as old churches, mills and farms. You can enjoy walking and cycling here (these can be rented at a 5-minute walk). Need a little more excitement? Water sports city Sneek, with a water-rich center, cozy terraces, the iconic Waterpoort and the Maritime Museum (also great fun for children), the Casemates Museum about a special story from the Second World War and a visit to the Frisian capital Leeuwarden are recommended. Easy to reach by bike, train (train station is less than a 15-minute walk away) or by car. Major cities such as Amsterdam, Groningen and Zwolle are an hour's drive away. Groningen and Zwolle can be reached within 1.5 hours by public transport. For a day of relaxation in good weather, you can visit the beach at one of the lakes. The water, that's what the region is known for. Renting a boat for a day is therefore an absolute must. Explore the surroundings, nature and the villages and towns from the water. And end the day at one of the many restaurants on the water. There is also always an activity going on in the high season, with the Sneekweek as a crowd puller in the first week of August. It is the largest water sports event in Europe that takes place on the water and in the city centre. The immediate surroundings are therefore beautiful and the major cities are within a row of distance. In addition, we recommend visiting places such as Workum, Marken, Volendam and Deventer. Day trips that bring the top Dutch culture and appearance. There is also plenty to do for children. In IJlst you will find all kinds of playgrounds. In Sneek, the indoor arcade is recommended for a day of bad weather. You will find the nearest zoo half an hour's drive away. You have to drive 1.5 hours for the largest zoo in the Netherlands, but this is also a must to experience with the children. We have listed all the tips and recommendations for our guests.
