Retro roots with a modern twist

🏡 Our home We have a simple, comfortable 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home in Whitby, Wellington, New Zealand. This can be either the whole 220m2 house, or separated into a studio and a 3 bed 1 bath. Our home is a genuine New Zealand family home that we're currently renovating. It's a little dated in places and every room seems to have its own colour thanks to its 1970s roots, but we're slowly giving it some love and making it our own! Both bathrooms have been modernised since purchase. The house would suit someone who wants a comfortable base to explore the Wellington region rather than someone looking for a luxury holiday home. 📍 The location is the best part! We're around 25 minutes by car from Wellington City, while still being in a lovely suburban setting in an area called Whitby. 🚌 Bus stop around 300m from our house, connecting to the train station 🚶‍♀️ Around 400m walk to Whitby Village which has everything you need from supermarket, restaurants, cafés, hairdresser, gym and other essentials. 🌳 The walk to the village goes around the beautiful Whitby Lower Lake 🎾 Right near the tennis courts and netball courts 🚆 Easy public transport connections into Wellington and Kapiti Coast 🛍️ Porirua City and its shopping centre are just one bus/train journey away or a 8 minute drive 🚗 Around 25 minutes to Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and the Kapiti Coast and approx 1 hour to a famous wine region in the Wairarapa 🌊 Easy access to beaches, walks, Wellington City and everything the wider Wellington region has to offer If it helps make the swap easier, we may also be able to make our car available while we're away. 🇪🇺 What we're looking for We're really open-minded about where we stay for March / April 2027. We'd particularly love Spain or Italy, but we're genuinely happy to consider anywhere in Europe. We don't necessarily need to swap for the entire time either — we'd be happy to discuss shorter or longer exchanges depending on what works for both households. We're hoping to find someone who would love the opportunity to experience New Zealand and the Wellington region, while giving us the chance to experience somewhere new in Europe.
