A good studio is not simply a hotel room with a kitchen. It is someone’s real home, shaped around daily life. A favourite chair, a proper coffee setup, books beside the bed, and a local street you quickly learn can make a compact space feel far more personal than temporary accommodation.

Home swapping means you and another Swaphouse member agree to stay in each other’s homes. You list your place, find someone you would like to swap with, chat about dates and expectations, and arrange the exchange directly. There are no required membership or booking fees, so a longer stay does not create a longer accommodation bill.

A studio can be a wonderfully simple base for discovering a destination. Start the day at a neighbourhood café, return for a few focused hours of work, then head out again knowing everything you need at home is close at hand.

Compact layouts deserve a few specific questions

Studio can describe many layouts: a single open room, a mezzanine sleeping area, an alcove bed, or a sofa that converts at night. Occupancy tells you how many guests a host accepts, but not whether the sleeping setup is right for you.

Before confirming a swap, ask about the bed, kitchen, workspace, storage, natural light, street noise, stairs or lift access, and anything that matters when living and sleeping in the same room. A quick, honest conversation helps both homes feel comfortable from day one.
